Well Kneaded Massage, Inc. is a national massage therapist network. Our massage therapists provide mobile massage for professional table and chair massage services to the home and/or have private clinics/studios/spas to provide services within. Our massage therapists are working together to use the power of branding and networking to create successful massage therapist careers within the massage industry.

Prior to becoming affiliated with Well Kneaded Massage, it is important that a therapist understands what branding & networking is and why these two concepts are crucial to developing successful careers for all massage therapists in the massage industry.

Business networking is defined as "the process of finding out about potential clients or service providers from friends, family, existing clients, business contacts, co-workers, acquaintances, and fellow members in professional and civic organizations".

At Well Kneaded Massage, we are dedicated to networking massage therapists who understand the power of networking and how it assists in business growth through massage client referrals to one another. In the massage industry, experienced massage therapists have learned that conventional methods of advertising merely assists in developing massage clientele, however the primary source of obtaining new massage clientele is through the power of client referrals. Even with national advertisements, at Well Kneaded Massage our massage appointments are primarily made through word-of-mouth referrals. Whether it is family referring family or a corporate office referring other branches of their company, our massage network would not be in business today without these referrals.

By informing clients that you are part of a national massage network of qualified, pre-screened therapists, clients very often will make referrals to friends, family and business associates across the state or country. Many times our clients have booked massage services for others as a gift! As a network member, you will be receiving these massage client referrals and create work for fellow therapists within the network! In doing so, you are not only creating massage jobs, but more importantly you are assisting in creating massage career opportunities across the country!

Branding is defined as "creating public awareness to a service by assigning value to services through naming, packaging, marketing, and advertising".

Experienced massage therapists understand the value of branding. They also understand the financial challenge it presents. To effectively brand a service that the general public will remember, hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars will be required. At Well Kneaded Massage we have tackled this challenge with development and execution of a "share-of-cost" branding plan. By becoming a part of the Well Kneaded Massage network, massage therapists are creating revenue to increase budgets for advertising and marketing through the networks share-of-cost advertising fees & through contracting their services for corporate office and corporate hotel accounts. With this in mind, it is important that we work together to sign other qualified professionals to our network.

What You Should Know

When considering becoming a part of the Well Kneaded Massage network, it is important that you understand who we are and how we operate.

Well Kneaded Massage is not a massage marketing company that makes its business by charging therapists or spa owners’ fees to market their private massage practices or spas. However, we do market our network so that clients find us. In doing so, of course they will find you. You essentially become a part of our collective brand.

Well Kneaded Massage does provide massage therapy jobs by contracting the services of our massage therapists to our corporate massage clients and hotel accounts who exclusively use our services. However, we are not simply a massage therapy booking agency. We also offer massage therapists the ability to receive referrals to develop private clientele of which is yours to keep.

Well Kneaded Massage is not simply one of those websites that charge you a monthly fee to advertise on. However, we do provide this option to therapists for those who prefer to deal with their clients directly and collect their own payments.

Well Kneaded Massage is not just a massage gift card reselling company asking you to redeem our cards at a commissioned rate. However, we do sell gift cards as a part of our marketing strategy. These sales are to promote our brand and assist our therapists in developing new clientele.

It is easy to find companies to pay to market your service; however it is also expensive without guarantees and with assuming financial risk. It is easy to obtain massage therapy jobs through booking agencies, but this generally doesn’t allow you the opportunity to develop and keep your own clientele. It is easy to find sites to advertise on, however it doesn’t guarantee business and it can be costly. It is easy to sign up with gift card reselling companies, but their procedures can be confusing, some charge monthly fees and these companies are most concerned with their sales, rather than the careers of the therapists they are associated with.

Well Kneaded Massage provides great business solutions that are not found elsewhere. We take the benefits of all these companies and package them into services available to our network therapists. Our focus is developing successful massage therapy careers for independent massage therapists, rather than just offering massage therapists jobs. Therefore we take our network a couple steps further by offering even more!

As a part of the Well Kneaded Massage network, you may also participate in our Massage Affiliate program. This program combines the concepts of massage referral programs & massage gift card reseller programs. Don’t limit your income to only providing services to clients within your service area or by limiting who you can sell gift cards to. Instead, refer clients that you can’t get scheduled with yourself back to Well Kneaded Massage. We will schedule the client with another of our networked massage therapists. When we do so, you will earn a 15% commission. Also, let your clients know that you sell gift cards that are redeemable nation-wide through your network of qualified massage therapists! This allows clients to give gift cards to clients, friends, family and business associates through out the county. When you make this sale, you will earn a 15% commission. Keep in mind, in doing so you have just created a client for a fellow massage therapist. If we all participate in the affiliate program, we will all benefit from not only the sales, but also the clients that we earn through the program!

Well Kneaded Massage has developed a National Massage Membership program. Why? As many of you may know, Corporate America has finally gotten their hands on our valuable work and is franchising massage factories across the country, paying therapists a pathetic $15/hour and diminishing the value of our work. How do we combat this? - We work together to create competition for these corporate capitalists by providing clientele the opportunity to have the same benefits of a massage membership! We also offer clients more variety by allowing them to choose from a larger variety of therapists, services and locations, essentially giving them the ability to customize their service. However, we pay ourselves a higher commission. By working together, we can keep our clientele!

Well Kneaded Massage also provides therapists the ability to participate in our Co-op Advertising program. This allows therapists to advertise their private services and contact information in both local & national on-line and print advertisements. This serves well in that it brings the cost of advertising down drastically. Even though you may only provide services locally, there are specific industry magazines that are distributed to professionals nationally that may call on you for services for their clients and business needs in the area. These publications are more affordable than you probably think, particularly when done through our co-op program. Well Kneaded Massage also provides Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your Well Kneaded Massage web page. This means that our tech team will program your web page to come up in the top organic results with Google, Yahoo & MSN for searches being done locally by clients that are trying to find you. When these results appear, the client will click on the link that will pull up your web page. The client will find your contact information on your page and contact you directly. Well Kneaded Massage will also provide you with professional management for local Pay-Per-Click programs through Yahoo & Google. These are ads that are displayed with high visibility on these search engines when clients are searching for your services locally. This ad will be linked to your Well Kneaded Massage web page, where clients will find your personal contact information when they click on the ad. You create your budget. Therefore you can spend as little or as much as you wish. Once your budget has been spent for the month, the ad will expire for the month. At anytime you may increase or decrease your budget. These ads are managed by professionals who know how to correctly use the programs provided by search engines. By using a professional management team, you optimize your ad performance to get a higher return on investment. At anytime, you can review the ad performance with our professional management team to see what people are searching for in your area, how many clicks you’ve received at any given time and how your budget is working for you. Lastly, our office is working with massage equipment providers, massage supply providers and other goods and service businesses to provide our therapists with discounted offers. For example, ABMP (Associated Bodyworks and Massage Professionals) offers a $50 discount on new policy purchases and policy renewals if you are an advertiser with Well Kneaded Massage. You will receive these offers in our monthly newsletter.

    Do I receive a web page on the www.wellkneadedmassage.com website? ~Yes ~Yes
    Can I post my personal contact information on my webpage, so that clients may reach me directly? ~No. All appointments are scheduled for you through our customer service center. ~Yes. Private clients looking for mobile services and/or looking to come to your clinic, studio or spa will contact you directly to schedule.
    Is there a fee for my webpage? ~No. ~Yes. We have a very low monthly fee to provide you with the opportunity of developing private clientele. However, this also provides you with a much higher income opportunity, as you are earning 100% of your fees rather than a commission for each time you provide service to them. This fee is subject to change; please call our office for the current rate in your area.
    Will I be contracted for private clients requesting mobile services? ~Yes. However, any requests for private mobile services are first offered as referrals to Advertisers, as they are contributing back to our network through their monthly fees. If Advertisers in the area are unable to accommodate the clients’ request, Interim therapists will then receive these job offers. ~If clients call our office requesting private mobile services, as an Advertiser you will receive these requests as referrals. If our Advertisers in the area are unable to provide the service, we will then contract out an Interim therapist to accommodate the clients’ request.
    Will I be contracted for mobile chair massage services? ~Yes. You will be offered these job opportunities if our Advertisers are not available to provide the service. ~Yes, as an advertiser you will receive first right of refusal for these job opportunities. This is because you are contributing back to our network through your monthly advertising fee.
    Will I receive clients to my massage clinic, studio or spa? ~No. We do not contract services to massage facilities. ~If a client contacts us to visit a location, they will be referred to the closest therapist facilities to them. We will also contact you with the clients’ information via telephone & e-mail.
    Can I provide my business cards or contact info to clients? ~No. Clients remain the property of Well Kneaded Massage. You may supply Well Kneaded Massage business cards with your name on them to our clients so that they may request you in the future. ~Yes, you may provide your personal business cards to private clients you provide mobile services to and clients who visit your clinic, studio or spa.

    ~No. You may not provide personal business cards or personal contact information to clients you see while contracted through our office for corporate accounts. We do not want to confuse clients with who is providing the service. We also want to represent our network professionally. You may provide the Well Kneaded Massage business cards with your name on them to these clients. If these clients are looking for private services, we will provide them with your contact information as well as forward their personal contact information to you via e-mail and telephone.

    What is my commission when I am contracted for jobs? ~ 50% of the total fee we charge the client. ~ 65% of the total fee we charge the client.
    How do I accept Well Kneaded Massage gift cards and how will I get paid? ~All gift card redemptions are scheduled through our office. Payment will always be handled directly with our office. You will be paid with our normal payment cycles. ~All gift card redemptions must be scheduled through our office. If a client calls you to schedule an appointment and is redeeming a gift card at your massage clinic, studio or spa, you must instruct the client to schedule through our customer service center. If you accept an appointment directly with a client who pays you with a gift card, you will assume all risk. There is no guarantee the gift card is valid if the appointment has not been scheduled through our office. You will be paid through our office with our normal payment cycles.
    How much do I earn for gift card redemptions? ~ 50% of the gift card purchase value. ~ 65% of the gift card purchase value.
    Can I keep private clients who have redeemed a gift card when using my services? ~No. These clients are the property of Well Kneaded Massage. ~ Yes. Once a client has used your services through redeeming a gift card, you may then provide them with your personal business card or contact information.
    Can I participate in the Affiliate Program? ~Yes. When you provide referrals back to our network that schedule appointments or purchase gift cards, you will earn a 15% commission. ~Yes. When you provide referrals back to our network that schedule appointments or purchase gift cards, you will earn a 15% commission.
    Can I participate in the Massage Membership program? ~Yes. If our Advertisers are not available, we will contract you to provide services to our massage members? You will earn 50% off our regular rates, rather than the massage membership discounted rates. ~Yes. Massage members will have the ability to use your mobile services or services to your clinic, studio or spa. Though you will not earn your full fees, it is important to remember that these clients are very valuable. They provide you with guaranteed reoccurring income and have the ability to provide you with cash paying referrals that you can also turn into repeat clients. We charge clients a monthly membership fee, granting them access to all our services at 25% off all services. Therapists are paid the full value of their discounted fee, therefore 75% commissions of our regular rates. GO TEAM!
    Can I have my web page optimized for Search Engine Optimization? ~No, this service is only available to advertisers. ~Yes, you may choose to have your web page submitted to our tech team for Search Engine Optimization. This will help clients find you when searching for your services locally on the internet
    Can I participate in the Pay-Per-Click Ad Program? ~No, this program is for therapists who wish to do business directly with clients. ~Yes. You may participate by setting your own budget for local pay-per-click programs with Google & Yahoo. These ads will be linked to your Well Kneaded Massage ad. Clients will be contacting you directly.
    Can I participate in the Co-op Advertising program? ~No. This program is for therapists who want their contact information published in local & national on-line & print advertisements. ~Yes. For those therapists who want to drive more business, you may participate in our co-op advertising opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is required to work with WKMI?
A contract, photo I.D, Social Security, a massage therapist license (or certification for those areas that do not require licensure) and professional liability insurance.

Am I an Employee or Independent Contractor?
Your relationship with WKMI is that of an advertiser and independent contractor. You are given the opportunity to advertise for your home and clinic/spa services. You are also given the opportunity to contract with us to see our corporate office, corporate hotel and gift certificate redemption clients. As an independent contractor you are responsible for all your costs associated with conducting business. You will not be employed as an employee, therefore will not be provided with workers compensation, unemployment, medical, vision or dental benefits & you will be required to file and pay your own state and federal taxes. Independent contractors are also free to make their own hours. You may choose to accept or decline appointments at will.

How many clients can I expect to receive from WKMI?
This question is very difficult to answer, as many factors are considered. Do we have a current market in the area? How limited is your availability? Do you return calls in a prompt manner? How competitive is our service in the area? In programming your web page to get top search engine results, we can create more business. We will also work to establish relationship with local businesses and put out more advertising in the area. With these efforts combined, measurable results may take 45 days or more.

How are therapists paid?
Advertisers collect their own payments from their private clients. Therapists contracting for corporate office & hotel accounts are paid by check. We have two payment cycles in a month. Any work performed from the 1st to the 15th of the month will generate an invoice and be sent over to accounts payable on the 20th of the same month. Any work performed the 16th through the end of the month will generate an invoice and be sent over to accounts payable on the 5th of the following month. It is very important that you be sure your file is complete within our office. If it is incomplete, our system will not process your invoice over to accounts payable. This is in efforts to maintain quality control of our therapists and to keep administrative procedures running smoothly.

What type of services do I need to be prepared to offer?
Only the services you provide.

How do you determine pricing for corporate office & hotel accounts?
Our office conducts market comparison surveys to be sure pricing is reasonable within your service area. We do try to remain competitive, but do not slash prices to encourage volume. We believe massage is a life-enhancing service that should never be under-valued. If you believe that our pricing in your area does not meet fair market value, please do contact our office. We will work with you to conduct market research with comparable services.

How are corporate office & hotel appointments scheduled?
These appointments are scheduled through our customer service department. Therapists may log into our administrative system to list availability. If availability is not listed, we will then contact therapists in the requested service area and request availability from them. All appointments require a verbal confirmation from therapists prior to being assigned to their calendar, whether availability is listed or not.

How do you screen your clients?
WKMI takes great pride in our advertising and marketing. Nothing within our ads or where our ads are placed will ever leave room to question whether or not we are a professional service. All of our staff is trained in what type of client comments or questions should ever cause a "red flag". Our staff is trained to always inform clients that our services are professional and in no way are a form of adult entertainment. At this point, questionable clients will always find a reason to end their call. In addition to this, WKMI will only accept credit card payments. Not only is this a means to hold a reservation, but it also serves as our best method of screening clients. If the information the client gives us does not match that on file with the credit card company, WKMI will refuse service. Clients calling looking for unprofessional services are always afraid of revealing their true identity or release credit card information.

Of course, we do expect our networked therapists to always use pre-caution and have the experience/training to identify questionable comments, questions & behavior. Therapists should have the ability to resolve these matters quickly and professionally.

How does the client make payment?
All client payments are made by credit card directly to WKMI. Therapists will never be responsible for collecting payments for jobs contracted through our office. You may of course, accept cash gratuity.

What form of payment do you accept?
Credit card payments only. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express & Discover.

What is the cancellation policy? Will I get paid for cancellations?
Clients are always informed of our 4 hour cancellation policy. If any cancellations are made with less than 4 hours notice, a full appointment fee will be charged. For cancellations received between 4-24 hours, a 50% cancellation charge will apply. However, we do require therapists to understand that payment will only be made to you in the event that we are able to collect this fee. If the charge is disputed with the credit card company, it may be awarded in the clients favor. We do our best to be sure therapists are adequately compensated for their time.
